End of Year, MR.DIY Indonesia Wins Two Awards for Social and Environmental Commitment

Jakarta, December 31, 2024 – The leader of the household appliance retail company in Indonesia, MR.DIY (MDIY), received 2 awards for the company's concern and commitment in empowering stakeholders to actively participate in resolving social and environmental issues in Indonesia. Towards the end of 2024, MR.DIY Indonesia received a prestigious award from the Ministry of SMEs as 'UKM Champion - Leading Partner in the Large Business/Retail Category'. This award was presented directly by the Minister of SMEs of the Republic of Indonesia, Maman Abdurrahman, to the Director - Head of Commercial MR.DIY Indonesia, Michael Cohen, at the Jalin Lokal 2024 event, Thursday (5/12). This award was given based on the assessment that MR.D.I,Y. Indonesia is the MSME partner with the greatest partnership potential in 2024.

The Indonesian Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Maman Abdurrahman when opening the Jalin Lokal 2024 event said that the Jalin Lokal program could be a collaborative ecosystem for small and medium entrepreneurs. Jalin Lokal 2024 is an event that brings together MSME entrepreneurs from all over Indonesia with various parties, such as industry experts, strategic partners, and investors. "Jalin Lokal has the concept of building a collaborative ecosystem by providing coaching, financing support, and opening marketing access. Continue to be the light of our country, the Ministry of MSMEs will continue to be present to maintain these candles so that they continue to exist to illuminate the nation, one of which is through this Jalin Lokal event."

The presence of MR.DIY in Indonesia has become one of the partners of various UMKM craftsmen in Indonesia and has created positive economic and social impacts. The company provides space for Indonesian UMKM, even from more than 18,000 products available in MR.DIY stores, more than 20% are made by Indonesian producers. The company also consistently supports local businesses by exporting Indonesian products to  MR.DIY stores in other countries and promoting Indonesian expertise on a global scale.



In addition to domestic appreciation, MR.DIY also received appreciation for its commitment to sustainable development at the regional level by being named the winner of the Creador ESG Impact Awards, for the Community & Social Impact category. This award was given by Creador, an investment company focused on the Southeast and South Asian markets to encourage ESG implementation, in accordance with Creador's spirit as a company that implements sustainable investment, and upholds ESG principles in their investment philosophy. This award was presented by the CEO & Founder of Creador, Brahmal Vasudevan, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Wednesday (4/12).

MR.DIY Indonesia's initiative, Gerakan Aksi Bersih, collaborates with various stakeholders to address one of Indonesia's biggest challenges, waste. The company is committed to supporting the Indonesian Government in reducing 70% of plastic waste leakage into the ocean by 2025. To achieve this, the company is carrying out a series of integrated initiatives.

First MR.DIY conducted a Waste Management program and partnered with Rekosistem, a waste management company by placing recycle station dropboxes in 10 MR.DIY stores strategically spread across the Jabodetabek, Bandung, and Surabaya areas. This initiative collected more than 400 kg of waste which was then recycled. In addition, this initiative was supported by Waste Collection activities where MR.DIY collaborated with 100 volunteers including the company's directors to clean the Mahakam River in Samarinda. This initiative managed to collect more than 750 kg of waste, which was then exchanged for a donation of 700 cleaning kits. No less important, this initiative was continued with an early age Waste Education program at Sampoerna Academy Surabaya and Surabaya Intercultural School involving more than 100 students, teaching the importance of waste sorting and recycling practices using the 3R principle: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
