Jakarta, November 9, 2024 - MR.DIY as the largest and fastest growing home appliance retail leader, reaffirmed its commitment to creating positive social impacts through various inclusive initiatives by holding a hybrid MSME Digitalization Training entitled MR.DIY Ada Aja Idenya: Digitalisasi Bisnis untuk UMKM Naik Kelas. The activity, which took place on November 9, 2024, also to commemorate Heroes' Day, successfully invited more than 1,100 MSME players from 37 provinces throughout Indonesia.

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are one of the pillars of the national economy, covering around 99% of the total business units in Indonesia. MSMEs contribute to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of up to 60.51%, and absorb almost 97% of the total workforce in Indonesia (Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia). However, only around 22 million or 33.6% of MSMEs have gone digital. The Indonesian government is targeting 30 million MSMEs to go digital by 2024. This target is still quite far from the current achievement, so it is necessary to accelerate digital adoption by MSMEs (Antara).

Edwin Cheah as President Director of MR.DIY Indonesia stated, “MR.DIY realizes that MSMEs have become unsung heroes for the Indonesian economy. Therefore, this year we are again inviting MSME players to receive digital business training/workshops with the aim of providing understanding and training to MSME players throughout Indonesia in terms of digital marketing to financial management. In line with the MR.DIY campaign theme 'There's Just an Idea' which promotes the value of Hemat, the implementation of digitalization can increase operational efficiency so that MSME players carry out marketing activities that are more efficient, attractive, and contemporary.” In addition, MSME players also gain new knowledge from successful MSME players, one of which is the owner of the Kami Idea brand who is currently successful in the Modest Fashion sector in Indonesia. Istafiana Candarini shared her experience and tips in creating a brand that started from a home boutique to now successfully appearing on the international stage such as New York Fashion Week, “The success of a business certainly cannot be separated from the role of consumers. Starting from determining the target market, to maintaining good relationships with consumers is very important to expand market reach. Similar to MR.DIY which meets consumer needs, as MSMEs we must always innovate products, 'meet customer needs' we must listen to what consumers need," he said.
Collaborating with PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk (CIMB Niaga), MR.DIY presents a financial literacy and digital business education session for MSMEs, with speakers Emerging Business Banking (EBB) Liabilities & Fee Income Product, and Performance Head CIMB Niaga, Yunita Chandrawati.

"The collaboration between CIMB Niaga and MR.DIY in improving financial literacy and digital business is one of CIMB Niaga's efforts to help improve the capabilities of MSMEs to build a stronger foundation for financial management. Because good financial management will have a positive impact on the development of their business. Among the examples of important steps for MSMEs to prepare for the future are investing, increasing business capacity, and maintaining financial stability," said Yunita.
Through this activity, MR.DIY wants to emphasize its commitment that does not only stop at providing products and services, but also actively contributes to its growth and welfare so that it can create a chain effect in the form of positive economic and social impacts. "We hope that the implementation of this event can be useful for MSME actors and all Indonesian people to be able to expand their business reach, find other interesting ideas, and be wise in managing finances, because that is an important step for MSMEs to move up a class, so that they can inspire more MSMEs in the next generation," Edwin concluded to the media.
